Vintage Montblanc Meisterstuck No. 149 fountain pen 14k Nib Fine point AUCTION

Refined, elegant, sublime - Montblanc! Upon careful research, I have discovered the age of this Montblanc Meisterstuck 149 fountain pen is between 1990 -1995.

How I arrived at this determination is by examining the nib construction, piston mechanism and filler thread, and ink feed construction. This lovely 149 has all brass filler threads, a split ebonite feed, and a bi colored 14k nib. I had previously assumed it was vintage by the 14k nib construction alone which dates back as far as 1976.

With this new information I can confidently state this pen is a maximum of 29 years old and a minimum of 24 years old. This has no impact on the valuation as all 149's post 1970 are valued similarly barring any unusual characteristics. Nibs engravedwith 14c dateback to 1976. Additionally, the feed and barrel construction, piston mechanism and filler threadsall shed light on the correct provenance of a 149.

While it isnt as old as Ithought I have discovered this pen is a rarified vintage because it has the 14k nib marking. While I discovered it wasnt as old as I initially thought I nowfind it is scarce in number due to the relatively short period of time they were manufactured.
