Steel nibs suffer from Metal corrosion especially inside the front section and the Iridium tip Join. As such they OFTEN Crack and Pop off their Iridium Tips. But Montblanc had no choice in the matter. Indeed the moment they could use Gold again they made this pens current nib.
It has the Shaded (M) logo centre nib (dates 1946 to 1952 only). These were the nibs Montblanc fitted to models 136 and early 1st issue 146 pens. Regarded by many collectors as their best EVER nibs. This is an upgrade of the highest possible order. Grade A++++++++ 14C Flex Nib. The pen itself is made of Celluloid (Barrel and Cap body). The Caps top Section with Casein White Star is BHR (Black Hard Rubber) as is the Front Section (part you hold when writing). The Barrel is an Orange see through tube that is then thinly dipped in Black celluloid to create the Lines etc.
These Barrel lines and Barrels Tail end Black often wear away with use and polishing etc over time. Nice to see one with great lines and Black still. My favourite EVER Montblanc Barrel type. After 1940 41 they NEVER made the Extra Long Line Barrels again. The Windows became shorter and then shorter again. These early Barrels are Demonstrator length. So you can see the Telescopic Piston in action when filling etc. The Pen has zero, Cracks, Splits or Repairs etc.The Blind Cap (Tail End) has DEEP and easy to read 136 & F imprints. The beautiful Tie Clip (my favourite Clip type) and Cap Ring Band are Yellow Gold plated and also superb with no plate loss or Brassing etc. Overall once in the hand to the naked eye this 82 year old looks sensational.
Ultra rare to find so clean. Telescopic Piston has just been serviced.Of course the real Jewel in the Crown with this fantastic fountain pen has to be that amazing 14C early shaded M. Medium Line with Fine line side stroke FULL Flex Nib. Ultra user friendly with zero paper scratch etc.
Writes with a Bold and Confident Medium to Medium Fine line that has Fine line side stoke at normal pressure. Perfect for every day use. However, this nib really comes alive the moment you exercise its fabulous Flexibility. It can flex from F to BBB (Triple Broad) on the downstroke when varying levels of pressure is applied. The Flex is a JOY to use.
Soft but not too soft. Excellent spread and spring back.A nib so creative its only real limitation is the imagination and writing ability of its user. This nibs flex is good even for a 1940 to 1950s Montblanc nib. Grade A+++++++++++++ As good as they come.
Also has fantastic Ink flow from the early Flat Ski Slope Feed. Never skipped a beat during its writing test.
Come s ready to write just add your favourite colour bottled ink... Perfect as a gift or treat yourself to a wonderful collectible fountain pen that can be used and enjoyed daily.. Please view all the Photographs they form large part of the description. All photographs are of actual pen.
