9 Yellow Gold Limited Edition Fountain Pen. Montblanc pays tribute to one of Ludwig van Beethoven's greatest works - the 9th Symphony. 9 in D minor is Beethoven's final complete symphony. It was the first time a major composer used voices in a symphony.

The words are from the "Ode to Joy" poem written by Friedrich Schiller. In the last movement of the symphony the words are sung by four solo vocalist and chorus. The premiere of Symphony No. 9 was held on May 7, 1824 in the Karntnertortheater in Vienna.

This was the first on-stage appearance Beethoven made in twelve years. It is said that there were five standing ovations during the symphony and jubilant applause at the end of many sections. At the end of the Symphony there were handkerchiefs, hats, and raised hands in the air.

Although Beethoven was almost completely deaf he could still see the standing ovation and gestures. Montblanc creates a masterpiece which pays homage to Beethoven's Symphony No.

9, which some people say is the greatest piece of music ever written. The cap is made of real onyx and features a solid gold portrait of Beethoven set with black and white diamonds. The barrel is created in solid gold while the musical clefs areinlaid with lacquer and set with diamonds approx. The clip and rings are also solid gold.
