The legendary queen Semiramis ruled around 800 BC in the Assyro-Babylonian empire and was regarded as the patroness of Nabu, the tutelary deity of the scribes. She adored the fine arts, which were mainly found in the ancient city of Babylon, as well as the magnificent buildings of King Nebuchadnezzar II, including the Ishtar Gate and the Hanging Gardens.
